Again this year Corpus Christi Parish will be hosting the Holiday Hilltop 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. This year's run will benefit Anne Marie Fraser.
Anne Marie is a seventeen year old senior at O’Fallon Township high school and a parishioner at St. Teresa’s Church in Belleville. She was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in November of 2012 after experiencing back pain, while playing basketball on the O’Fallon High School JV team. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a form of bone cancer and she had a tumor on her iliac bone near her spine.
She was in remission for nine months after receiving 14 rounds of chemotherapy and 30 rounds of radiation. In May of this year, she was diagnosed with recurrent Ewing’s Sarcoma. The tumor reappeared in the same area. She is currently in the process of receiving chemotherapy and harvesting stem cells at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. After she receives several rounds of “21 day cycle” chemotherapy and the MRI shows the tumor is responding well to the treatment, she will receive a high dose of chemotherapy. This high dose of chemotherapy will wipe out her immune system; therefore she will receive a stem cell transplant using her own cells.
Anne Marie is very strong and continues to have a very positive attitude. She has a strong faith in God and receives very much love and support from family, friends and the community.
Again this year we will be providing live Christmas Music along the course
This year there will be three levels of sponsors: Gold, silver, and bronze. Gold is a donation of one hundred dollars or more, silver is a donation of fifty dollars, and bronze is a donation of twenty-five dollars. We will also be awarding attendance prizes and hosting a raffle and silent auction. Any cash donations or items you would like to donate would be greatly appreciated. All sponsor’s names will be displayed on the back of the official race t-shirt. Questions may be directed to the Corpus Christi parish office at 624-5814, or email us at: email@example.com.
